As we all know, each Chinese student flying economy class to the United States can only carry a limited amount of luggage, in addition to the necessary school supplies, the number of clothes is very limited, so how to make the most of the limited luggage space?

The following is my "experience" and students to share some of my small experience:

1. First of all, find out in detail the location of the school, whether it is in the south or the north, whether it is a drier area or a rainy area。If you are going north, consider bringing some warm winter clothing。
2. Take a few items of clothing with you on your trip to the US in case your luggage gets lost (which is very unlikely) or for other reasons。
3. Winter clothing in China is generally not rainproof。During a pre-tour training session last year, a university near Chicago mentioned that the local winter often snows, and Chinese students bring a very thick down coat, but it is not practical。On the contrary, the school has a special coat rental service for international students. Students can rent winter down coats from the school during the study period, which are waterproof and can be worn in snow。When students graduate, if the clothes are in good condition, they can be returned to the school, which can then rent them to the next new student。Students who are not willing to rent, there are also many waterproof down coats for sale locally, which are of good quality and inexpensive。
4. American students dress simply, but not casually。Usually in class, a simple T-shirt, jeans and sneakers will do。However, if there is a party, an international student cultural festival or an invitation to an American home during the festival, Chinese students may consider bringing a national costume as well as a formal suit, which can also be used during the interview。
5. Clothes are mostly dried in America。Clothes brought to the United States had better be shrunk。
6. Trends are slightly different in China and the United States。I remember that Christine took two pairs of newly bought and white Nike shoes to study in the United States, and she felt very conspicuous in the school。Because most of the local students wear colored, especially dark sneakers, the style is different from what I brought。

In short, it is recommended that you bring some simple, comfortable clothes with you。Use the limited space to bring family photos (electronic version is fine, of course), study related reference books (also try to bring electronic version), and school supplies。Also, it saves space to roll your clothes and put them in your suitcase。
